After graduating from the West of England College of Art Bristol in the early seventies Mary worked as an artist and illustrator for Athena, Gallery Five and illustrated the work of several poets including Michael Horovitz and Ivor Cutler.
On moving to Kent she built a career in Art and design education working in further, adult and secondary schools. Her last post was as Director of studies for Further Education at the University for the Creative Arts Canterbury.
Since her retirement she has been able to concentrate on her personal creative practice. Mary’s current work has a strong narrative and is mainly realised through drawing and print.
Mary’s home and studio is right by the Estuary which informs and inspires her work. She walks by the sea, swims in it and enjoys every season and mood.
